Mary Bush, DDS, Recognized by the American Academy Of Forensic Sciences

Sognnaes Award of Excellence in Forensic Odontology.

Renowned forensic dentist, Mary Bush, DDS, associate dean for student, community and professional initiatives, and an associate professor of restorative dentistry at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, is the first woman to receive the Reidar F. Sognnaes Award of Excellence in Forensic Odontology. The honor from the American Academy of Forensic Sciences was presented at its 73rd Annual Scientific Meeting, which was held virtually. The award recognizes an individual who has made significant contributions to forensic odontology. Bush is an expert on the admissibility of bite mark evidence in the U.S. court system and was among the first researchers to question the science supporting bite mark analysis as definitive proof in legal prosecutions.
