Contributions to Periodontal Education Recognized

The American Academy of Periodontology has awarded members for outstanding contributions within the academy and specialty. Two Decisions in Dentistry contributors are among the honorees.

Gary Greenstein, DDS, MS, a clinical professor of periodontology at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, was honored with the Gold Medal Award for his contributions to the literature. Credited with more than 160 publications — including papers in Decisions in Dentistry — he was lauded for his positive influence on day-to-day practice.

Brian Mealey, DDS, MS, graduate program director and director of the specialist division in the Department of Periodontics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio School of Dentistry, was recognized with the Outstanding Periodontal Educator Award. Mealey is also a Decisions’ contributor and Editorial Advisory Board member.
