Oral Health Is One Thing Americans Can Agree On
The latest CareQuest poll finds significant bipartisan support for expanding dental coverage especially for older adults, those with disabilities, and veterans.
With midterm elections nearly here, Americans are fiercely divided on myriad issues except for oral health! A new poll from CareQuest Institute for Oral Health reveals bipartisan support for dental coverage and oral health as a top policy priority. The poll of 1,000 registered American voters across the United States found that expanding dental coverage, especially for older adults, those with disabilities, and veterans, was almost universally supported.
Including dental coverage within Medicare won bipartisan support with 96% of Democrats, 86% of Republicans, and 92% of independents supporting this health policy change. When asked about whether dental practices should be financially encouraged to accept all types of insurance, including Medicare and Medicaid, 95% of Democrats and 80% of Republicans said yes.
Of the poll participants, 78% said the lack of dental benefits within Medicare was a crisis or major problem. And most participants agreed with the statement that workers have paid into Medicare during their entire adulthood and it should therefore cover dental care. Click here to read more.
