Indianapolis Dentist Qualifies for the US Open
Matt Vogt, DDS, traded his dental drill for a driver and secured a spot in the 125th US Open. His emotional win at a Washington qualifier sends him to Oakmont Country Club, just miles from his Pittsburgh hometown.
Matt Vogt, DDS, a 34-year-old dentist from Indianapolis, has earned a coveted place in the 125th US Open at Oakmont Country Club in Plum, Pennsylvania, proving his skills extend far beyond the operatory. Vogt clinched his spot with a standout performance at a qualifying event in Walla Walla, Washington, and will now compete alongside the world’s top golfers June 12–15.
A former collegiate golfer at Butler University, Vogt has kept his competitive edge sharp while balancing a full-time dental career. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Indiana University School of Dentistry, where he was honored with the Academy of Osseointegration Award, an annual recognition given to one student for outstanding achievement in oral surgery and implant dentistry.
Committed to lifelong learning, Vogt has pursued extensive continuing education across all facets of clinical dentistry, with particular emphasis on the placement and restoration of both single and full-mouth dental implants. His advanced training includes programs through Spear Education, the Academy of General Dentistry, Implant Pathway, and Aesthetic Interface. He is also an active member of the American Dental Association, Indiana Dental Association, and Indianapolis District Dental Society.
The US Open moment is especially meaningful as it comes shortly after the passing of Vogt’s father, who had been his biggest fan. Returning to Oakmont Country Club, a storied course near where he once caddied, marks a full-circle moment for Vogt. As he prepares to tee off against the sport’s elite, he carries with him not only years of training but also the memory of his father’s encouragement. Click here to read more.
