Study Shows Elevated MI and Stroke Risk Among Those With COVID-19
New research out of Sweden demonstrates that patients with COVID-19 face an increased risk for myocardial infarction (MI) and stroke. The study compared the prevalence of heart attack and stroke among more than 86,000 individuals with COVID-19 to more than 300,000 participants without SARS-CoV-2 infection. Those with the novel coronavirus were 3 times to 8 times more likely to experience MI and three times to six times more likely to experience a stroke. These elevated risks declined significantly 4 weeks post-SARS-CoV-2 infection. Click here to read more.
