The British Dental Association has selected Clinical Periodontology as one of the eight most influential dental textbooks in modern history. The textbook, which originated in Boston by Irving Glickman, BS, DMD, FACD, FICD, more than 65 years ago, has since had three editors/authors: Glickman, Dimensions of Dental Hygiene Editorial Advisory Board Member Fermin A. Carranza, Dr Odont, and Dimensions of Dental Hygiene Editorial Advisory Board Member Michael G Newman, DDS,  along with co-editors Henry Takei, DDS, MS, Dimensions of Dental Hygiene Editorial advisory board member and Perry Klokkevold, DDS, MS.

Last year the book was renamed Newman and Carranza’s Clinical Periodontology, 13th Edition, 2019. This textbook is widely used due to its broad coverage of the clinical and scientific basis of periodontology.

The British Dental Library has collaborated with the British Dental Journal to feature each of the eight selected books on a cover of the journal to coincide with the British Dental Association’s 100 year anniversary. The textbook is also in the running for the book of books.
