Application Deadline Nov. 1 for ADA Foundation Tarrson Awards

Dental student leaders of school-based outreach programs may apply by Nov. 1 for $5,000-$20,000 in funding from the American Dental Association (ADA) Foundation’s Tarrson Award program.

The E. “Bud” Tarrson Dental School Student Community Leadership Award recognizes excellence in dental school student-led programs that provide services to underserved populations within the U.S.

To be eligible, dental student groups must be enrolled in a CODA-accredited predoctoral dental education program. Dental students who are leaders of such programs may apply with support of their faculty advisor.

Award funds must be expressly used to enhance student service learning and outreach to underserved populations. One application per dental school will be accepted. Awards will be made to a dental school/college in honor of the outreach program.

The E. “Bud” Tarrson Dental School Student Community Leadership Award recognizes excellence in dental school student-led programs that provide services to underserved populations within the U.S. The Tarrson Fund was created in 2003 by Linda Tarrson in remembrance of her husband E. “Bud” Tarrson, longtime owner of the former John O. Butler Co. and oral health philanthropist.

Tarrson Award applications must be completed and submitted by 11:59 p.m. CT on Nov. 1. Students must create a login on the third-party application site. Award guidelines and eligibility information, as well as an application template, are available at https://www.adafoundation.org/en/how-to-apply.
