The amount of cash a parent has on hand is the single biggest factor in determining how much the tooth fairy will pay for a tooth, according to the Original Tooth Fairy Poll, sponsored by Delta Dental.

Key considerations the tooth fairy may consider include:

  • No. 1: How much spare cash the tooth fairy has on hand (46%).
  • No. 2: The child’s age (31%) set the value of a lost tooth.
  • No. 3: The tooth fairy remembers historical payouts and then determines comparable amounts to what the parents received when they were young (29%).
  • No. 4: 1 in 5 parents (20%) consider a child’s recent behavior.
  • No. 5: How many teeth the child has already lost (18%) is a top factor in deciding monetary rewards.

Close to 37% of parents report their children receive at least $5 or more per tooth. Read the full report here: prnewswire.com
