Pediatric Dentists Visit Dental Home in Hawaii

0

A group of clinicians from the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) and Healthy Smiles, Healthy Children: The Foundation of the AAPD, recently visited Kokua Kalihi Comprehensive Family Services (KKV) to observe the work the dental home is providing underserved children in Hawaii. KKV is a local dental home in Hawaii that the foundation is helping to fund.

The foundation and pediatric dentists have been focusing on Hawaii’s underserved children in an effort to help break down barriers to care. KKV is one of three organizations in Hawaii to receive grants from the foundation. Within the last 2 years, the foundation has provided more than $65,000 to help address Hawaii’s pediatric oral health care challenge. Along with KKV, the foundation provided grants to Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center, and Kalihi-Palama Health Center. For KKV, the grant is helping the organization to provide oral health services to 1,500 children.
