Cheryl A. Vamos, PhD, MPH, is an associate professor, director of the Maternal and Child Health Program, and a fellow in the Chiles Center in the College of Public Health at the University of South Florida in Tampa.
Alice M. Horowitz, RDH, MA, PhD, is a research associate professor in the Department of Behavioral and Community Health, School of Public Health at the University of Maryland in College Park. Formerly a senior scientist at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Health, National Institutes of Health, Horowitz was instrumental in initiating the need to address health literacy in dentistry.
