Chris Griffin, DDS, FAGD, FIDIA, is in private practice
in Ripley, Mississippi. A lecturer on clinical topics and practice
management, he also serves as president of Effective Dentistry, a
continuing education provider. A fellow of the Academy of General
Dentistry, Griffin received the 2010 Humanitarian of the Year award
from the Mississippi Dental Society. He can be reached at

Rahma Mungia, BDS, MSc, DDPHRCS, is an associate professor in
the Department of Periodontics at UT Health San Antonio. She is the director of STOHN and assistant director of the Southwest Region of the
National Dental Practice-Based Research Network.
Melanie V. Taverna, MSDH, MAADH, is an
assistant professor and clinical faculty member in the Division of
Dental Hygiene at the University of Texas Health San Antonio (UT
Health San Antonio). She is also director of the university’s
Master of Science in dental hygiene program and
serves as assistant director for the South Texas Oral Health Network
