Michaela Nguyen, RDH, BSDH, MS, is the preclinical director and senior clinical instructor in the Dental Hygiene Program at USC Ostrow School of Dentistry. She co-authored the chapter on hand-activated instrumentation in the 5th edition of Darby and Walsh’s Dental Hygiene Theory and Practice. Nguyen also conducts and participates in advanced instrumentation hands-on workshops throughout the country and internationally.

Joan Beleno Sanchez, RDH, BSDH, MS, is a senior clinical instructor and research coordinator in the Dental Hygiene Program at the University of Southern California (USC) Ostrow School of Dentistry in Los Angeles. With more than 9 years of experience in private practice and dental hygiene education, she is also the course director for research methodology, national board review, and periodontal endoscope. Sanchez has presented and published nationally and internationally on areas of oral metagenomic studies and musculoskeletal injuries in dentistry.
