EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
After reading this course, the participant should be able to:

1. Explain key differences between traditional fee-for-service (FFS) reimbursement in dentistry and alternative payment models (APMs) designed to reduce healthcare costs and improve outcomes.
2. Describe factors that influence U.S. healthcare costs, as well as key findings in the authors’ expenditures and utilization analysis of FFS models compared to APMs.
3. List a chief public/private partnership that is working to establish core principles that will guide the creation of cost effective and outcome driven APMs.
