An effective approach to prevention and cessation counseling will help address the growing prevalence of tobacco use among young people.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
After reading this course, the participant should be able to:

  1. Explain the various alternative tobacco products and prevalence of use.
  2. Describe the health effects of tobacco use.
  3. Discuss the ā€œ5 Aā€™sā€ of tobacco cessation, and the approach to addressing these with patients.
  4. Summarize resources available to assist with tobacco cessation intervention.
