Along with preventive therapies, optimal salivary action can promote remineralization and reverse lesion development in patients with dental caries.

After reading this course, the participant should be able to:

  1. Describe the cyclical process of tooth demineralization and remineralization.
  2. Explain saliva’s role in caries risk assessment and demineralization/remineralization.
  3. Discuss clinical strategies and tools for assessing and managing caries risk, and assisting remineralization of tooth structure.
