The proper management of dental unit water systems will help ensure the provision of safe care

After reading this course, the participant should be able to:

  1. Explain why planktonic biofilm accumulates in dental unit waterlines (DUWLs), and recommended water quality standards for dental treatment.
  2. Identify resources, protocols and strategies that dental teams can use to manage and maintain safe treatment water.
  3. Discuss the importance of a DUWL management plan and the need for regular testing.
