After reading this course, the participant should be able to:

  1. Define the continuum of sedation and anesthesia.
  2. Identify the methods used to provide sedation and general anesthesia.
  3. Discuss the clinical guidelines for administering sedation and anesthesia.
  4. List the most common agents used to achieve sedation.
