Research into antibiotic scripts from dental providers shows declines in the rate of prescribing per patient encounter.

After reading this course, the participant should be able to:

  1. Explain antibiotic prescribing trends in healthcare, particularly dentistry.
  2. Describe some of the effects associated with antibiotics, and concerns surrounding antibiotic use.
  3. Discuss dental indications for antibiotic prescriptions, and what dental teams can do to promote the responsible use of this class of drugs.
