Oral Manifestations of Tuberculosis

In light of expanding globalization and drug resistance, the resurgence of tuberculosis in some regions increases the possibility of infected individuals presenting for dental care — thus the need to recognize the disease’s oral manifestations.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
After reading this course, the participant should be able to:

1. Describe the reasons for the resurgence of tuberculosis in some areas, the impact of globalization, and ramifications of the increasing prevalence of drug-resistant tuberculosis.
2. Explain the pathogenesis of this disease, its various forms, clinical presentation and mortality.
3. Discuss the ways in which tuberculosis manifests in the oral cavity.
