Educational ­Objectives

After reading this course, the participant should be able to:

  1. Identify the etiology and characteristics of gingival clefts, differentiating between red and white clefts.
  2. Discuss treatment modalities for red and white gingival clefts.
  3. Evaluate the effectiveness of the modified coronally advanced tunnel technique with acellular dermal matrix in achieving complete root coverage, increased keratinized tissue, and long-term stability in cases of gingival clefts.

SORIN BOERIU, DDS, MsD, PhD, Dip Perio, FRCD(C), maintains a private practice limited to implant and periodontal surgery in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.
