After reading this course, the participant should be able to:

  1. Discuss how the innate and adaptive immune systems work.
  2. Identify dental treatment considerations for patients with type 2 diabetes.
  3. Explain how human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) affects the adaptive immune system.
  4. Detail oral care considerations for patients with HIV infection.
