By implementing routine testing, dental teams can have a significant impact in reducing high blood pressure and other chronic diseases.

After reading this course, the participant should be able to:

  1. Explain the benefits and challenges of routine screening for hypertension in dental settings, as well as some of the objections that have been raised.
  2. Discuss the prevalence of high blood pressure, classification levels under the recently updated guidelines, and the clinical team’s responsibilities during screening.
  3. List key results and lessons learned from Maryland’s “Hypertension Screening in the Dental Setting” pilot project.
