EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
After reading this course, the participant should be able to:

  1. Explain the science and incidence of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection, and the fundamentals of transmission.
  2. List common oral complications of HIV and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome.
  3. Describe the dental team’s role in screening and the basics of rapid HIV testing.
