EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
After reading this course, the participant should be able to:

  1. Explain patient risk and various perioperative emergencies that may arise from use of moderate sedation in dental therapy.
  2. List steps dental teams can take to prepare for, and avoid, medical emergencies during moderate sedation.
  3. Discuss specific responses that may be warranted in an emergent situation arising from moderate sedation during dental care.
