Dentists’ Role in Interprofessional Education and Practice

As the silo model of health care fades, oral health professionals will play an increasingly important part in efforts that ensure comprehensive interprofessional care.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
After reading this course, the participant should be able to:

1. Describe the concept of team-based patient management, and factors behind the paradigm switch to interprofessional education and practice.
2. Explain models of interprofessional education and the benefits of a collaborative approach to practice.
3. Discuss the clinical strategies and skills that are essential to the success of multidisciplinary, team-based care.
