After reading this course, the participant should be able to:
- Describe the OraRad study and highlight key findings regarding the oral health effects of radiation therapy on patients diagnosed with cancers of the head and neck.
- Explain the common course of radiation treatment and exposure for patients with head and neck cancers.
- List recommended management strategies for this patient population.
- Discuss factors that may increase risk for dental caries, periodontal involvement and osteoradionecrosis among this cohort.
