EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

After reading this course, the participant should be able to:

  1. Describe how removable dental prosthesis care impacts health.
  2. Discuss essential information patients should receive regarding the care of removable oral prostheses.
  3. Identify the role of oral health professionals, nurses, dietitians and pharmacists in improving outcomes for patients who wear dentures.

Lisa F. Mallonee, MPH, RDH, RD, LD, is a professor and graduate program director in the Caruth School of Dental Hygiene at Texas A&M University College of Dentistry in Dallas. She is also codirector of the Master of Science in Education for Healthcare Professionals program, and serves as a dietetic internship preceptor for Baylor University Medical Center’s Dietetic Internship Program.
