Accelerated Orthodontic Tooth Movement
The use of adjunctive surgical or noninvasive techniques and devices can help shorten treatment time, thus minimizing risk of complications.
After reading this course, the participant should be able to:
- Explain the clinical benefits of accelerated orthodontic treatment, and the physiologic responses to continuous pressure against a tooth.
- Identify various adjunctive surgical approaches used to accelerate tooth movement during orthodontic therapy.
- Discuss noninvasive techniques that have been used as adjuncts to speed tooth movement and the evidence that supports their use.
