Heather Doucette, Dip DH, BSc, MEd, is an associate professor in the School of Dental Hygiene, Faculty of Dentistry, Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. She has served as a content knowledge expert for national clinical competencies, published research findings in peer-reviewed journals, authored textbook chapters, and presented at local, national, and international conferences. Doucette is passionate about improving access to oral care for underserved populations. In 2012, she began an initiative to help meet the oral health needs of new immigrants and refugees to Nova Scotia and, in 2018, she forged a collaboration with the Phoenix Organization to provide preventive oral care to at-risk youth.
