Dental Home Day is typically held in May in conjunction with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry’s (AAPD) annual session, but when the conference was canceled due to the global pandemic, Sunstar and the AAPD Foundation began to consider ways to safely host the event, which Sunstar sponsors to provide donated dental care and help establish dental homes for underserved children.
The foundation worked with Interfaith Dental Clinic to establish new safety protocols to hold Dental Home Day at Interfaith’s Nashville clinic in early August. Although the event looked different than in years past due to social distancing protocols, the mission remained the same. This year’s clinic will ensure that 100 vulnerable children receive a year of free dental care.
