With adequate training, dental teams can play an integral role in forensic odontology by identifying human remains, as well as possible signs of abuse or neglect.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
After reading this course, the participant should be able to:

  1. Define forensic dentistry and its applications.
  2. Discuss the use of dental records for purposes of human identification.
  3. Explain how prints found on the lips can aid forensic odontology.
