EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
After reading this course, the participant should be able to:
- Explain the prevalence of sudden cardiac arrest, as well as suggestions and requirements that dental settings be equipped with automatic external defibrillators (AEDs).
- Describe various pathologies for sudden cardiac arrest, and the importance of AEDs when responding to these events.
- Discuss clinical manifestations of cardiac arrest, and appropriate management strategies for the dental team.
