EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
After reading this course, the participant should be able to:

  1. Explain the prevalence of babies born with cleft lip and/or palate, and factors that play a role in its development.
  2. Discuss ways in which cleft lips and/or palates are detected, and the make-up of the interdisciplinary care team.
  3. List the goals of presurgical infant orthopedics, the ways in which nasoalveolar molding therapy addresses this condition, and the growing popularity of this treatment approach.
