COMPACT, ALL-TISSUE LASER

In partnership with Light Instruments, ids (integrated dental systems) (866-277-5662; idsimplants.com) offers the compact LiteTouch Er:YAG All-Tissue Laser. Its built-in Laser-in-Handpiece (L-I-H) technology is described as allowing dentists to treat more patients with greater efficiency than ever before. The LiteTouch All-Tissue Laser’s delivery system eliminates fragile fiber optic lines and large articulating arms, and the ergonomic and lightweight L-I-H design allows easy access to all areas of the oral cavity.

ADVANCED UNIVERSAL RESTORATIVE ON TAP

Filtek Universal Restorative from 3M (888-364-3577; 3M.com) offers dental professionals a modern approach to anterior and posterior restorations. The material features a simplified shading process and advanced composite technology to provide strong and highly esthetic results. The NaturalMatch technology simplifies the overall shade selection process by offering eight designer shades (including extra white) that cover the 19 VITA classical and bleach shades, according to the company. All shades have a universal opacity, and 3M’s pink opaquer is designed to mask metal and stained dentition. Filtek Universal Restorative also features capsules that can be warmed, plus an improved 8-mm tip that allows the material to extrude like a flowable composite.

IMAGING PLATE SCANNER LAUNCHED

Planmeca (800-537-6070; planmeca.com) has launched the Planmeca ProScanner 2.0. This compact imaging plate scanner utilizes radio frequency identification technology for fast scanning and identification purposes, and its smart imaging plates can be used multiple times. The ProScanner 2.0’s flexible plates are said to be comfortable for patients and are available in sizes 0, 1 and 2. In addition, each plate is equipped with a digital serial number for management and tracking purposes.

ALL-IN-ONE CLOUD SOFTWARE

DentiMax’s (800-704-8494; dentimax.com) all-in-one, cloud-based practice management and imaging software is designed to help dental teams simplify their office workflow. The system gives dental providers access to radiographic and practice management data from any PC or Mac with an internet connection, allowing them to monitor their practice from anywhere they choose. This single-source solution improves office efficiency and offers clinicians peace of mind by combining practice management and imaging management into an integrated system.

CARIES-FIGHTING DENTIFRICE AVAILABLE

Dr. Collins (888-583-6048; drcollins.com) is now selling BioMin toothpaste in the United States. BioMin protects teeth from caries lesions by releasing calcium and phosphate ions to deliver hydroxyapatite onto tooth surfaces, aiding remineralization by replacing lost mineral from tooth surfaces. The ions also form a seal over open dentinal tubules. BioMin toothpaste has been available in the United Kingdom since April 2016.

DISPENSER DELIVERY SYSTEM DEBUTS

DMG’s (800-662-6383; dmg-america.com) new Composite Dispenser is designed for the placement of a wide range of dental materials. The dispenser features effortless loading and allows convenient autoclaving for infection control purposes. The Composite Dispenser facilitates fast and easy placement of composites, as well as cements, glass ionomers and other materials. Engineered for precise delivery, it ergonomic design makes it easy to hold and maneuver. The system is reportedly ideal for use with DMG’s Ecosite Bulk Fill composite.

ULTRASONIC CLEANING SYSTEM DELIVERS VERSATILITY

Coltene (330-916-8800; coltene.com) introduces the BioSonic UC150. This 1.5-gallon ultrasonic cleaner can be used as a countertop or recessed unit, allowing for flexibility in any sterilization setting. Built for efficiency, convenience and versatility, the new BioSonic UC150 can accommodate several cleaning configurations, including beakers, baskets, and up to four medium-sized instrument cassettes. The multilingual touchscreen is easy to use and allows full functionality with a gloved hand. The system includes a cassette basket, recess template and gasket.

ESTHETIC NEW UNIVERSAL COMPOSITE

Tokuyama (877-378-3548; tokuyama-us.com) has launched Omnichroma, a universal composite with excellent physical properties, esthetics and handling. Utilizing Smart Chromatic Technology, Omnichroma uses structural color as the main coloring mechanism, resulting in improved esthetic outcomes. In fact, the company says this material matches the entire classical VITA shade range with just one shade of composite.

POWER TOOTHBRUSH DEEMED SAFE AND EFFECTIVE

Benco Dental (888-992-3626; pro-sys.com) has announced the PRO-SYS VarioSonic Powerbrush has received the American Dental Association’s (ADA) Seal of Acceptance from the ADA Council on Scientific Affairs. The seal was awarded based on the finding the product is safe and effective in removing plaque and helping to prevent and reduce gingivitis when used according to the manufacturer’s instructions. The five speeds and five brushheads included with the VarioSonic offer 25 possible settings. Each brushhead features a different stiffness, and uses DuPont Tynex bristles. The Normal Soft brushhead is ideal for most patients, and four other levels of softness cater to patients with oral sensitivity.

INFECTION CONTROL PORTAL ENHANCES ASEPSIS

Hu-Friedy (800-483-7499; hu-friedy.com) now offers the GreenLight Dental Compliance Center. This new resource provides a single, convenient, online portal that contains everything a dental practice needs to develop and maintain a compliant infection prevention program. After logging into GreenLight, dental professionals will be able to set up personalized protocols by answering questions about their current asepsis procedures. The portal provides comprehensive and up-to-date information on compliance, and practices will be able to self-assess compliance through GreenLight’s easy-to-use self-audit system. The GreenLight Dental Compliance Center is a members-only Hu-Friedy resource.

ARCH KIT OFFERED

Paradise Dental Technologies (800-240-9895; pdtdental.com) now offers the Pineyro Arch Kit. Designed with Alfonso Piñeyro, DDS, the new instrument set allows clinicians to treat a full fixed hybrid patient without removal of the prosthesis. The Pineyro Arch Kit contains four instruments: the Pineyro Arch Ti 1 Anterior Arch; Pineyro Arch Ti 2 Posterior Arch; Pineyro Arch Ti 3 Mesial/Distal Arch; and Pineyro Arch Ti 4 Specialty Arch.

WATERLINE TABLET UNDERGOES REBRANDING

Sterisil (719-622-7200; sterisil.com) has rebranded its Citrisil Dental Waterline Microbial Control Tablet with an updated look and a more practical tablet quantity in every box. Maintenance boxes will now include two orange shock tablets and 48 maintenance tablets. Citrisil Dental Waterline Microbial Control Maintenance boxes are still available in 1-liter and 2-liter formulations for both white and blue tablets.
