In this issue of Decisions in Dentistry, a continuing education course — developed in collaboration with the American Association of Endodontists and supported through an unrestricted educational grant from ZEISS — guides practitioners through nonsurgical endodontic retreatment to increase tooth survival rates and improve patients’ quality of life. Written by George Bogen, DDS, “Benefits of Nonsurgical Endodontic Retreatment” reviews the techniques, materials and armamentarium needed for successful nonsurgical retreatment — and discusses potential complications and risk factors that could contribute to nonhealing. Bogen, a past president of the Southern California Academy of Endodontics and former secretary and trustee of the American Association of Endodontists Foundation, maintains an endodontic practice in Los Angeles and lectures at Loma Linda University, the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Long Beach, California, and the University of California, Los Angeles.
