Nebraska has issued a $4 million state contract to the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s (UNMC) College of Dentistry to increase the number of dental graduates practicing in the state’s underserved rural areas. The 10-year contract from Nebraska Oral Health Training and Services will focus on expanding telehealth services and providing increased access to dental services for patients treated by UNMC College of Dentistry faculty and students at current and future partner clinics. The funding also offers scholarships to UNMC dental students who commit to practice for at least five years in any of the state’s designated dental workforce shortage areas.
