Legislation supported by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons has been introduced to Congress to ensure patients with congenital craniofacial anomalies receive treatment in a timely manner. The Ensuring Lasting Smile Act will require private and individual health insurance plans to cover “medically necessary services resulting from birth defects.”
