SEPTODONT SPONSORS ORAL HEALTH EDUCATION AT LANCASTER BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS

(Lancaster, PA – September 12, 2017) Local children in need are learning essential skills to improve their oral health and take care of their smiles thanks to Septodont and America’s ToothFairy: National Children’s Oral Health Foundation. In two area Boys and Girls Clubs, Septodont and America’s ToothFairy provided education to children ages 6 to 9 about the importance of oral health and its connection to overall systemic health. A third presentation is scheduled for October 9.

Septodont and America’s ToothFairy also donated educational materials and oral care products to make learning fun and encourage positive oral health behaviors at home. Based in Lancaster, the Septodont team collected oral care products to distribute to underserved children in the area through the America’s ToothFairy Smile Drive, a national campaign designed to raise awareness of the importance of oral health and provide children with toothbrushes and toothpaste, the basic tools for a healthy smile.

Led by Diane Dornisch, RDH, a dental hygienist and Septodont international sales development manager, the events took place at the Hill Clubhouse on August 8 and the Jack Walker Clubhouse on August 29. At the event on August 29, Jill Malmgren, executive director of America’s ToothFairy, joined the Septodont team to help teach preventive strategies for protecting young smiles and distribute oral care gift bags including toothbrushes, toothpaste and educational activity books to participating children.

Though tooth decay is the most prevalent chronic disease among children in the U.S., it is largely preventable with thorough home care, regular dental visits and good nutrition.

“Septodont is pleased to sponsor these events for the Boys and Girls Clubs in the Lancaster area and proud to give back to our local community,” said Paul Mondock, president for the Americas for Septodont, a leader in pharmaceutical dentistry. “By creating opportunities for oral health education, along with the distribution of oral care products and valuable educational materials provided by America’s ToothFairy, we hope to make a lasting impact on the oral health of children in our community.”

“America’s ToothFairy is grateful to Septodont for taking action to address the problem of childhood tooth decay among children in their community,” said Jill Malmgren, executive director of America’s ToothFairy. “For many children, basic oral care products such as a toothbrush or toothpaste is a luxury their families simply cannot afford. It is our hope that these oral health lessons and tools will help children in Lancaster build a strong foundation for a lifetime of good oral health.”
